Qamishlo Municipality sets ampere tariffs for July, imposes penalties on violators

The People's Municipality in Qamishlo issued Circular No. (2) regarding the regulation of electricity generator operations for July 2026, following a meeting attended by the District Council, Qamishlo Municipality, the Generators Union, the Chamber of Industry, and the Qamishlo Fuel Committee. The circular stated:

"A meeting was held on Thursday, 2/7/2026, attended by the Municipal Council, Qamishlo Municipality, the Generators Union, the Chamber of Industry, and the Qamishlo Fuel Committee. Following discussions, the following decisions were made:

1. Ampere tariffs for July 2026 are set as follows:

- Ampere tariff for service diesel generators operating 8 hours: 17,000 SYP.

- Ampere tariff for generators operating 12 hours: $7.5, including 8 service hours.

- Ampere tariff for generators operating 8 hours under the free system: $12.

- Ampere tariff for generators operating 24 hours: $25, including 8 service hours.

- Tariff for each additional operating hour using diesel: $1.5.

2. Any generator owner who intentionally shuts down a generator with the aim of reducing work hours will be fined 1,000,000 SYP for each hour.

3. Generator owners must inform the relevant authorities (Generator Monitoring Committee) if a generator breaks down to avoid legal accountability.

4. Generator owners must provide official receipts when collecting ampere fees. The ampere tariff will be set at the beginning of each month, and receipts must include the phone number, date of payment, and generator owner's name.

5. In the event of a repeated second violation, the generator will be removed.

6. Generator owners are strictly prohibited from demanding payment from subscribers for ampere subscription fees or generator repair costs. These expenses are the responsibility of the generator owner. Violations will result in suspension of the administrative license and confiscation of the generator in favor of the Municipal Council.

7. Subscribers must pay their subscription fees between the 1st and 10th of each month.

Note: Every generator owner must display an identification board containing the license holder’s full name, phone number, neighborhood and commune, and complaint number. A template for this will be issued by the municipality.”
