Qamishlo celebrates National Resistance Day

During the National Resistance Day celebration (November 27) in the city of Qamishlo, it was noted that the gains of the peoples of the region are the result of the struggle and resistance continued for decades.

On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) (National Resistance Day), the Popular Initiative in Qamishlo held a celebration at the March 12 Martyrs Stadium.

Hundreds of citizens from Qamishlo; Kurds, Arabs, and Syriacs, attended the celebration, among them displaced people from Afrin, Shahba, and Ras al-Ayn. The attendees included all segments of society; women, men, children, students, intellectuals, teachers, and representatives of the Autonomous Administration and civil society organizations.

In the celebration square, the attendees chanted the slogans "This Is Not the End, But a New Beginning" and "Long live Leader Abdullah Ocalan." They danced the dabkeh to the revolutionary songs and raised the flags of the PKK and the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), as well as pictures of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The celebration began with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech delivered by Shamsihan Gilo, the member of the Martyrs' Families Council in Qamishlo. During the event, she commemorated the martyrs of the revolution and saluted Leader Abdullah Ocalan, stating that their gathering was thanks to the leader's efforts and the martyrs' sacrifices. She said, "The eyes of the entire world are on Imrali today. Leader Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom must be achieved, and we will struggle for it until it is achieved. We must not stop."

Shero Shero, the member of the Democratic Society Movement Coordination, delivered a speech on behalf of the popular initiative in Qamishlo, and congratulated all the peoples of Kurdistan and the world, and Leader Abdullah Ocalan, on this occasion, saying, "Today is a historic day. What we see in the arenas of resistance is the result of this movement, which has spread throughout the world. Our revolutionaries and our people are gathered here today thanks to the efforts of the Guerrilla."

The event concluded with traditional folk dances and the recitation of poems.
