PUK's Talabani: Rights of Kurds, minorities should be guaranteed

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Tobias Lindner, German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

During their meeting, both sides emphasized the necessity of coordination, cooperation, and strengthening bilateral relations to support efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in the region.

The discussions also covered the situation in Syria and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. Talabani reaffirmed the PUK’s commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in Syria. He stressed that protecting the rights of all communities—especially the Kurds—ensuring their participation in decision-making, and contributing to the reconstruction of a new Syria would be key to its long-term stability.

At the same time, he warned that "any effort that deviates from this objective will only further complicate the situation." He called on all stakeholders and international powers to support the protection of the region and intensify efforts toward a comprehensive national solution.
