Public anger grows over attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud- Ashrafieh residents

The crimes committed by the mercenaries of the Interim Government against the residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo continue to be exposed. Since January 6, these mercenaries have launched what were described as acts of ethnic extermination against the Kurdish population in these areas. In this context, women from the city of Tal Tamr in al-Jazira Canton expressed their strong condemnation of these violations, affirming that what occurred constitutes war crimes and a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian conventions.

Citizen Hadla Abdul Wahab stated that the attacks carried out by the mercenaries of the Interim Government on these neighborhoods led to the killing and injury of hundreds of civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly.

In a crime she described as heinous, Hadla Abdul Wahab condemned the mercenaries’ perpetration of a horrific act against the body of a member of the Internal Security Forces – Aleppo, where the body was thrown from the roof of a residential building and subsequently mutilated. She considered this crime a direct targeting of free women and their pioneering role in protecting society, and a failed attempt to break the will of women in North and East Syria.

For her part, citizen Salma Hussein confirmed that the practices of the mercenaries of the Interim Government fall within a systematic policy aimed at spreading chaos, undermining security and stability, and eroding the state of coexistence that characterizes the region.

She noted that targeting women, especially members of the Internal Security Forces, cannot be separated from a policy aimed at breaking the will of society, undermining the foundations of safety, and weakening the role of free women, who have long been at the forefront of the struggle to protect this land.

In a related context, young woman Norshin Mamo stressed that the attacks on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods came as part of a systematic plan aimed at destabilizing the state of peaceful coexistence that distinguishes these two neighborhoods, targeting the diverse social fabric, and imposing a reality of chaos and terror on the civilian population.

She called on the international community to condemn these grave violations committed by the mercenaries against the residents of Aleppo’s neighborhoods, emphasizing that international silence regarding these violations encourages their continuation and grants perpetrators a green light to commit further crimes against civilians.

The women of Tal Tamr held the Interim Government and the Turkish occupying state fully responsible for these crimes, calling on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and women’s organizations to break their silence and to open independent and transparent investigations to hold those responsible for these serious violations against civilians accountable.
