Hundreds of displaced people from Afrin and residents of Hasakah have gathered in front of the provincial building in Hasakah, in response to attacks on Kurds and insults to Kurdish symbols in Afrin and Aleppo.

AL-HASAKAH

Groups of individuals attacked Kurdish families and insulted Kurdish symbols during Newroz celebrations in Afrin and Aleppo.

In reaction to these attacks and the stirring of ethnic tensions, hundreds of displaced Afrin residents and Hasakah locals are currently gathering in front of the provincial building.

The protesters are demanding an end to attacks on Kurds, raising slogans such as “No to division” and “Kurds are an integral part of Syria”. This comes amid reports of increasing incidents of assaults in Afrin and in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, raising fears of further attacks or even massacres against Kurdish residents.
