Prisoner exchange postponed to next week

According to private sources cited by ANHA agency, the parties involved in the prisoner exchange are preparing to carry out a new round of swaps under the January 29 agreement signed between the two sides.

Sources indicated that the relevant authorities in the Jazira region have begun preparing groups of prisoners held in the prisons of the SDF and the Internal Security Forces, with groups being transferred from Qamishlo to Hasakah yesterday evening and Thursday morning.

The sources explained that the group that arrived in Hasakah is being prepared to be exchanged for detainees held by the Syrian Interim Government. This exchange was initially scheduled for Thursday but was postponed to the beginning of next week due to the incomplete implementation of some technical and procedural measures. No official date has been announced yet.

Amid the lack of official statements from the parties regarding the final date or details of the operation, sources expect the exchange to take place on Saturday.

ANHA agency had reported yesterday, Wednesday, citing private sources, that a new group of forcibly detained individuals held by the Syrian Interim Government was expected to be released on Thursday as part of the third group, which includes around 300 people.

This comes as part of consecutive exchange operations between the two sides, under the understandings reached in the January 29 agreement, aimed at addressing this issue between them.
