Politicians: Leader Abdullah Ocalan has always been pioneer for peace

Amid increasing wars and crises in the Middle East and the complexity of political solutions, Leader Abdullah Ocalan sent a message on September 1, International Peace Day, stressing that the “call for peace and democratic resolution” is not a temporary stance but a strategic and historic step.

The message resonated widely within political circles, as ANHA agency met with several politicians to discuss its implications and dimensions.

The Path to Peace Passes Through Change and Recognition of Others

In this context, Abdulghani Oso, member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), stated: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call for peace and democratic society in his message is not surprising. He has always advocated for peace, called to avoid wars, and sought to establish peace.”

Oso pointed out that “the leader called for comprehensive peace and began practical steps himself by dissolving the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), ending armed struggle, and transitioning to political activism. He has always been serious in his efforts to establish peace and resolve the Kurdish issue. Now, it is the responsibility of the Turkish state to recognize the peoples living in the region.”

Regarding the approach followed by Turkish authorities since the founding of the Republic in the early 20th century, Oso said: “The Turkish state was built decades ago on a repressive culture that recognizes only one language, culture, and flag. However, recent developments in the region have brought the Turkish state to a dead end, realizing it cannot continue with this approach, thus it was forced to change its policy.”

He continued: “When Leader Abdullah Ocalan says that democracy must include all peoples, foremost among them the Kurdish people, he stresses the necessity of uniting Kurdish forces around the Kurdish cause and the issue of Kurdistan. If we cannot unite among ourselves, we will not be able to reach agreements with other forces in the region. Therefore, if we want to unite with the peoples, we must first unite ourselves.”

Serious Steps Needed to Save the Middle East from Conflict

Muhammad Ashraf Ali, an official in the organizing committee of the Democratic Union Party in Hasakah, said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan has always been among the first advocates for peace and avoiding wars, striving to raise the voice of peace in the Middle East. Therefore, we must not leave the leader to bear the burden of peace alone, but rather support him and unite among ourselves and with all peoples.”

He added: “There are many parties that do not want to establish peace and obstruct all efforts, even within the Turkish state itself, where some institutions seek a solution to this issue, serving narrow interests. Therefore, we call on the Turkish state to take serious steps that contribute to saving the Middle East from a bloodbath.”

Kurdish Unity a Prerequisite for Continuing the Peace Process

Zahraa Al-Ali, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in Hasakah, said: “If we analyze the message from Leader Abdullah Ocalan, we find that it contains the solution to all the crises in the region. Therefore, it must be effectively implemented, especially by the Turkish state, to achieve a just and comprehensive peace for all peoples.”

Zahraa Al-Ali added: “The region is going through a sensitive situation with many changes affecting all its peoples, including the Kurds. If the Kurds manage to overcome divisions between the four parts of Kurdistan and unite their ranks and demands, this will guarantee the continuation of the peace process. The leader took strategic political steps by dissolving the PKK, ending armed struggle, and moving towards political activism as a first stage toward establishing peace.”

Analysts note that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s message remains a guide toward a secure and stable future, where comprehensive peace requires the commitment of all parties and respect for the rights of peoples to avoid conflicts and build a dignified life for all residents of the region.
