Political parties criticize increase of diesel prices in Hasaka

Political parties issued a statement today criticizing the decision to raise the price of diesel fuel in Hasaka Governorate to 75 US cents per liter, arguing that the move will negatively impact living conditions.

The parties stated that the decision came after a meeting between the Directorate of Fuel and the Syrian Ministry of Oil, and that it will exacerbate the economic pressures on citizens, especially given the widespread reliance on diesel for heating, transportation, and agricultural and industrial activities.

The statement added that this decision reflects a complete lack of consideration for its repercussions and contributes to spreading chaos and tension amidst the fragile circumstances the country is experiencing.

They explained that the increase will lead to higher living costs, which will be reflected in the prices of goods and services, potentially affecting the purchasing power of the population and further increasing tensions between Damascus and the general population, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliations.

The parties warned of the decision's repercussions on the economic and social situation, and the potential for a significant escalation of tensions, noting the possibility of increased tension under the current circumstances.

The statement called on the interim government to reconsider the decision and take measures that take into account and improve the living conditions, instead of causing more suffering and tension. It also called on the Autonomous Administration not to implement it and to work on finding alternative solutions.
