Hanna Soumi, from the Syriac community, and a researcher in indigenous peoples’ issues and defense; He got to know the Kurdistan Workers' Party in the 1990s through some of his comrades in sports teams and prominent Syriac figures.

Hanna explained: “We also got to know the party through our master John Ibrahim, the bishop of the Euphrates in 1993. We were visiting him and he told us about the thought and person of Abdullah Ocalan. They had met for 5 hours, and he likened Abdullah Ocalan to one of the disciples of our Lord Christ. For his thought, tolerance, and love for all nations, he said, “I did not find any Kurdish or religious fanaticism in him. I saw in him a person who protected all ideas, talking about Christianity, Islam, and Yazidis, and talking about all nationalities, as if he was a father to everyone. Sumi stressed that the thought of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is different and new and not built on the basis of nationalism and religion, and he said: “Because any thought based on these two thoughts is destined to disappear and die, and religions and nationalities must unite, as Abdullah Ocalan says, within the confines of this human, democratic nation that protects everyone.”

Regarding the impact caused by the thought of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, Hana explained: “The Kurdistan Workers’ Party is a secular party, and the Christian, Armenian, and Assyrian people are always searching for secularism, because all our affliction is from the politicization of religion. In 1915, our villages and homelands were destroyed, and millions of people were killed.” Our people, and a major demographic change occurred, all in the name of religion, because the Ottomans were pursuing a policy that they only accepted the Turk and only their religion, and so they exterminated us.”

He touched on the thoughts of Leader Abdullah Ocalan: “When you read the Manifesto of Civilization, or the plea that he wrote down in prison, you notice how he talks about the Syriac-Kurdish-Assyrian-Armenian relationship, he talks about how the Kurds were influenced by the Armenians, and at the same time he talks about all those who exist must unite together against This dwarf genie (the Turkish regime) is a genie, but it is a dwarf. It is weak because it is not the owner of the land, while we, the Syriacs, Armenians, Assyrians, and Kurds, have pre-historic roots in the area of Beth-Nahrain and Mesopotamia.”

Hanna highlighted the struggle of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and said: “We were completely certain that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, with this ideology, would reach all nations. He noted that: “The Kurdistan Workers’ Party, with its secular ideology, was able to include Yazidi Muslim Christians and even Jews to support this great thought brought by Abdullah Ocalan, the thought of the democratic nation through which we can reach everyone.”

Soumi blessed the birth of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, and noted: “It is a blessed and holy birth. We cannot coexist with chauvinistic nationalist thought, and with radical Islamic Turanist thought. We coexist with Ocalan thought, because it is a humane and moral thought that does not differentiate between the Arab, the Kurd, the Syriac, and the Armenian.” “Everyone is equal in their rights.”

The co-chair of the Martyrs’ Families Council in the city of Qamishlo, Masoum Hassan, learned about the ideology of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in 1986, when he was a student, through some of his schoolmates and the “Voice of Kurdistan” magazine.

Through him, Masum Hassan’s family learned about the ideas of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, and the family was influenced by that thought and opened its doors to the party. Regarding the influence that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party had, Hassan said: “His ideas did not only affect Rojava, but he also had an impact on the Kurdistan level, had it not been for his thought.” The Kurdish community has disappeared. His idea revived the Kurdish people and made them have a solid will. He recognized the Kurds for who they are, and made them strong to stand up to the historical changes that are taking place today in our region, and to build the revolution of Rojava and North and East Syria.

Hassan stated that the people in Rojava are more organized 12 years after the Syrian crisis and the Rojava Revolution, all thanks to the thought and philosophy of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. He said: “If it were not for this thought, the people of the region and the Kurds would have been in a crisis. The region would have been in the hands of ISIS mercenaries, Jabhet al-Nusra, and they were going to start a big war between the Kurds and the Arabs.”

He noted the goodness of the people in the region and the Kurdish people are indebted to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and leader Abdullah Ocalan, and stressed: “Thanks to them, we have become an example and a model to be emulated in the world, by building institutions, councils, and a military force that strongly defeated ISIS mercenaries, while countries like Iraq, Libya, and other countries could not confront ISIS.”

Hassan pointed to the enemies’ attempts to create a rift and separation between society and the party, and stressed: “This has not been written in history and will not be written either, since the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is the people, and the people are the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. The people and the party are intertwined like flesh and nails.”

Hassan stressed: "We will continue the revolution until the last breath. We will strengthen our connection with the martyrs and the leader even more. We believe that without the freedom of the leader, we will be in crisis. We will not be a free society. Our personalities will not be free if Leader Ocalan is not free."

He stressed that the ideology of the Kurdistan Workers' Party brought about a major impact and change in the personality of women and youth in the region, who recognized their true selves and were able to organize themselves and be people of will and resistance.

Hassan explained the machinations and conspiracies that affected the Kurdistan Workers’ Party: “They tried to liquidate and end the Kurdistan Workers’ Party when the leader Abdullah Ocalan was arrested, but they never achieved it. The party organized itself again, and the greatest example of this is the Rojava Revolution, which was able to be an example and a model for drawing "The eyes of the world and the people of the region."
