Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor calls for fair constitution 

Today, the Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor Canton issued a statement, delivered in front of the Executive Council's meeting hall in the Al-Ma'amal area, in which it called for the establishment of a constitution that protects the rights of all components of the Syrian people without excluding or marginalizing any group.

The statement, read by the co-chair of the Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor Canton, Faiz Al-Bak, pointed out that "sixty years of injustice and tyranny in Syria have made radical change a pressing necessity to achieve a dignified life."

It affirmed that "the constitution is the guarantor of protecting these rights," calling for drafting a constitution that takes into account the particularities of all Syrian components, especially the people of North and East Syria, who have sacrificed more than fourteen thousand martyrs for the sake of freedom and democracy.

The statement stressed "the need for the new constitution to be fair to everyone, without excluding or marginalizing any component," considering that "the success of the revolution requires protecting the rights of all Syrians and providing a free and dignified life for everyone equally, without favoring one group over another."
