The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan condemned, on Tuesday, the attack that targeted a house in the village of Zarka Zewi in Hewler province, which resulted in the killing of a couple, stressing that targeting civilians cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The party’s spokesperson, Karwan Kazniyi, said: “Targeting civilian homes constitutes a violation of the region’s sovereignty and a war crime under international law,” emphasizing the necessity of protecting the lives and dignity of citizens.

He added that “the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, under the leadership of Bafel Jalal Talabani, places the protection of the people at the top of its priorities,” calling for “keeping the Kurdistan Region neutral from the conflicts and wars taking place in the region.”
