A short while ago, an individual was injured at the entrance of the "Mar Taqla" Church in Latakia after being targeted by two people on a motorcycle, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The incident sparked panic and anxiety among residents, amid a lack of clarification from security authorities regarding the identity of the attackers or the motives behind the crime.

This attack comes just two days after an assault on the Mar Elias Church in Damascus, which claimed the lives of dozens of worshippers, raising further concerns about the targeting of places of worship and religious communities in Syria.

Latakia has recently witnessed a state of security deterioration, with the absence of effective measures by the security forces affiliated with Syria's transitional government to protect civilians. This has heightened residents' fears of repeated attacks that threaten civil peace in the city.
