Othman: International interventions complicated the issues 

Amjad Othman, a member of the Syrian Democratic Council, explained that the Council faces great difficulties in the dialogue mechanism with the Damascus government.

He stressed: “For us, we believe that dialogue is a principle, and from our point of view it is the way to solve the crisis in Syria. The country needs a real and serious dialogue, first with the national democratic political elites, and secondly with the Damascus authority. We present our project on the basis that the political solution must be A peaceful solution, we proposed decentralization as an entry point for democratic transformation in Syria.”

Othman explained: “We believe that the transition from centralized tyranny to decentralization is an essential step towards achieving a democratic state.”

Othman pointed out that: “There are no current rounds of dialogue, and the main problem is the difficult challenge of transforming the mentality of a large part of the opposition towards decentralized thinking or a decentralized mind,” and stressed that they are facing the same challenge with the Damascus government.
