Noticeable increase in arrests of women in Iran reported 

According to these reports, there has been a marked increase in arrests, sparking growing alarm over restrictions on personal freedoms and violations affecting women’s rights in the country.

The reports state that Iranian intelligence forces arrested Sahar Mahdi (32) after raiding her family home without presenting any official documents or judicial warrants. The Women’s News Agency (NUJINHA), citing its sources, reported that Mahdi was taken to an undisclosed location following her arrest, and her place of detention and health condition remain unknown.

A source close to Mahdi’s family said that Iranian authorities accused her of “espionage,” and that the judiciary issued a two-month detention order against her. The reports added that the charges are linked to the political activities of her brother, who is a member of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), with her arrest reportedly justified on the basis of this familial connection.

These developments come amid the ongoing Iran–U.S. tensions, which have cast a shadow over internal conditions, alongside escalating security measures and tightened surveillance. This situation has negatively impacted public freedoms and citizens’ rights, particularly with the increasing number of arrests and security crackdowns.
