New fuel price hike hits Syria

The Permanent Committee for Determining Prices of Petroleum Products and Mineral Resources at the interim government issued a new fuel price list today, which included higher prices for oil derivatives.

The price of a liter of 95-octane gasoline was set at 149 new Syrian pounds, up from 147 pounds, while 90-octane gasoline rose to 145 pounds from 142 pounds in the previous price list. The price of a liter of diesel also increased from 120 to 121 pounds.

Meanwhile, the price of a household gas cylinder decreased from 1,500 to 1,470 pounds, and industrial gas dropped from 2,400 to 2,350 pounds.

The committee attributed the price increases to the rise in global oil prices this week, in line with international market fluctuations.

Despite the committee’s clarification through media outlets, Syria’s Ministry of Energy or the Syrian Company for Fuels (Sadcop) had not published the official new price list until the time of preparing this report, while fuel stations began applying the new prices in the morning hours.

This marks the third adjustment to fuel derivative prices in Syria since last June, following a series of increases and reductions affecting gasoline, diesel, and gas prices in recent weeks.
