New details emerge about Khirab Ashk tragedy

On the night of January 25, factions affiliated with the Interim Government and mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state committed a massacre in the village of Khirab Ashk, as the village was targeted with missiles, drones, and artillery. The bombardment resulted in the death of five people and injury of five others, most of whom were women and children.

After the factions withdrew from the village, ANHA agency documented the extent of the destruction inflicted on homes, particularly the house where the massacre took place. The footage showed the building completely destroyed by the violent shelling.

The homeowner, Resho Bozan Kedro, who sustained minor injuries, recounted the details of that night to ANHA agency, saying: "We were asleep, and it was quiet. I was in a room next to the one where Fatima Haj Mahmoud, whose both legs were amputated, was staying. I had brought her with me from Kobani along with her siblings. As the shelling intensified, we were unaware of what was happening around us. For a moment, I thought an earthquake had struck and the house had collapsed on top of us. When I opened my eyes, I saw dust and pieces of the wall above me, while the sounds of shelling were growing louder. That's when we realized the house was being bombed."

He added: "The neighbors came to rescue us, but they couldn't get my family and others out because the heavy shelling continued until the morning. The next day, the shelling subsided, and we were able to rescue some of the injured from under the rubble, while four victims remained trapped. As for my wife's body, it was thrown out of the room by the force of the explosion, and she was buried in Kobani that same day."

In turn, his daughter, Kedro Bozan, stated to ANHA agency: "I live in the village of Koktab near Khirab Ashk. I saw flames rising from the village, and I didn’t know that the targeted house was my father's house or that my mother had lost her life. When I arrived and saw what happened, it was a very tragic day. The bombing of the house by drones and artillery continued until the morning hours, and it was a very intense bombardment."

The victims are: Fatima Haj Mahmoud (60 years old), Jamila Ahmed Othman (53 years old), Banafsh Sheikh Bozan (28 years old), and the children Solin Sheikh Bozan (4 years old) and Kaniwar Sheikh Bozan (2 years old).

The wounded are: Sherihan Haj Mahmoud, Fatima Haj Mahmoud, Masoud Sheikh Bozan, Nasreen Mostafa, and Mohamed Sheikh Bozan.

This massacre followed violent attacks that had targeted Kobani countryside with various types of weapons, directly impacting civilians. A family in the village of Qasimiyya was also targeted, resulting in one death and three injuries. Additionally, a massacre in the village of Khirab Ashk left five martyrs and five wounded, most of whom were women and children.
