New convoy from Jazira heads to Tishreen Dam

Today, the 16th convoy of residents of Jazira Canton and IDPs from Afrin and Shahba Canton in North and East Syria set out for the Tishreen Dam, popularly known as the "Resistance Dam," to participate in the ongoing protest there since January 8 against the threats and attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.

The convoy included dozens of residents of the cities of Tal Tamr, Darbasiyah, Zarghan, Tal Brak, Al-Shaddadi, Al-Hol, and Hasaka, as well as IDPs from Afrin and Shahba Canton. Participants gathered at the Panorama Roundabout in Hasaka city before heading toward the dam located in the eastern countryside of Manbij.

The marchers chanted slogans opposing the Turkish occupation and calling for unity among communities in defending the gains achieved in North and East Syria.

Messages of support and solidarity from NE Syria people

Sanaa Al-Thamer, from Tal Tamr, said: "We, Arabs, Kurds, and Assyrians, are moving today to the resistance dam to affirm our stand against the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."

Alaa al-Din al-Zahir, from the Tal Tamr countryside, emphasized that the march toward the Tishreen Dam is a message of steadfastness and determination: "We consider the dam our lifeline, and we will defend it until the last drop of our blood. We will not allow a repetition of what happened at the Allouk well station in Sere Kaniye."

Al-Zahir explained that Turkey is seeking to displace the population by using water and electricity as weapons against civilians, in an attempt to undermine stability in the region.

For her part, Nahla al-Khalaf, also from Tal Tamr, emphasized that their support for their forces will not cease: "We will continue to go to the resistance dam as long as the attacks continue. Our morale is high, and we stand behind our forces that are protecting this land."

For her part, Fatima Ibish, a woman forcibly displaced from Afrin, affirmed her willingness to bear whatever falls upon them, even sacrificing her life in defense of the region. She added, "We will embrace the resistance against the Tishreen Dam until the end."

For her part, young woman Jinda Ali from the city of Hasaka explained that the Turkish occupation seeks, through its attacks, to break the will of the people of North and East Syria, noting that the youth and all components are participating in the protest to protect the dam. She said, "We are not lovers of war; we are lovers of peace and advocates of the democratic nation project. We are here, and we will remain so."

Protests have been ongoing for more than three months

It is worth noting that this convoy is part of a series of popular movements towards the Tishreen Dam. A similar convoy set out on April 9 from the cities of Qamishli, Amuda, Tal Hamis, and Tirbespiye in the Jazira Canton.

The Tishreen Dam has witnessed a widespread popular sit-in for more than three months, amid escalating attacks by the Turkish occupation on areas of North and East Syria, which include bombing infrastructure and attempts to destabilize security and stability.
