Netanyahu accuses Hamas of violating Gaza agreement

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of breaching the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, holding the movement responsible for the recent escalation following the injury of an Israeli officer in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device in Rafah.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today that Hamas continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, asserting that what it described as the movement’s “violent intentions” have become evident after an Israeli army officer was wounded in an IED explosion in Rafah.

The statement stressed the need to hold Hamas accountable, affirming that Israel “will respond to any breach of the agreement.”

It added that “Hamas’s public refusal to disarm constitutes a blatant violation of the agreement,” noting that the movement has, in effect, signed onto its own exclusion from governance and disarmament.

These statements came after the Israeli army announced earlier today that an officer was injured when an explosive device detonated in Rafah, explaining that the device was triggered against an armored vehicle during a military operation to sweep the area.
