The Israeli Prime Minister accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement after receiving the remains of a hostage's body.

Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on the handover of the remains, said that Hamas had handed over additional parts of the body of a deceased hostage that Israeli forces had previously recovered. He indicated that he would discuss with the Israeli security establishment ways to respond to Hamas's violations of the Gaza agreement.

For its part, Israel said that the remains brought back by Hamas on Monday did not belong to any of the thirteen abducted still being held in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of the security cabinet to discuss Hamas's breach of the agreement after it handed over a body that was not among the list of deceased hostages.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for Netanyahu to "stop hesitating and give the orders to eliminate Hamas."

According to Israel's Channel 12, the opposition from Smotrich and Ben-Gvir came during an urgent meeting where the imposition of a "specific and immediate punishment" was being discussed.
