NE Syria women’s delegation continues tour in Switzerland

The delegation reached Switzerland on Friday as part of its European diplomatic tour, which began on September 6, following meetings with political parties and women’s organizations in Germany and France.

The visit began with a meeting with Fabian Molina, a member of the Swiss parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee representing the Socialist Party. Talks addressed developments in North and East Syria, as well as the broader Syrian context following the fall of the Baath regime.

The delegation also met Carlos, another Socialist Party MP, with discussions centered on the latest political developments in Syria.

In parallel, the delegation members held a meeting with a group of Swiss women activists. Conversations covered the situation of Syrian women in general, with a particular focus on women in North and East Syria. The delegation also highlighted the experience of the Autonomous Administration, the leading role of women in the Rojava Revolution, and the achievements gained in this field.

The talks further addressed violations committed against Alawites and Druze in the coastal region and Sweida, stressing the dangers of ISIS mercenaries' resurgence in the region and the importance of international action to ensure countries repatriate their nationals from al-Hol camp.

The delegation emphasized the need for international powers to pressure the Syrian transitional government to correct the course of the political process by ensuring representation of all components in the future Syrian government and guaranteeing their rights in the new constitution.

The visit concluded with a public meeting at the Kurdish Association in the Swiss city of Bern, where discussions covered the latest political developments in Syria, the situation in North and East Syria, as well as the March 10 Agreement and prospects for the future of Autonomous Administration.

The women’s delegation includes: Amina Omar, Executive Member of the Women’s Council of North and East Syria; Mona al-Yousef, spokesperson for the Syrian Women’s Council; Shahrazad al-Jassim, spokesperson for the Zenobia Women’s Gathering; Jian Hussein, member of the Kongra Star Coordination; and Georgette Barsoum, president of the Syriac Women’s Union.
