MP: Turkey committed a war crime by targeting female journalists

The head of the Democracy and Equality Party bloc in the Turkish Parliament, Gulistan Kiliç Koçigit, today, during a press conference held in the Turkish Parliament, paid tribute to the workers of the free media, both male and female.

Regarding the targeting of female journalists of the free media, GulistanTaro and Hîro Baha al-Din, who were martyred as a result of an attack by the Turkish state in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Gulistan Koçigit said: "I would like to pay tribute to the workers of the free media who did not abandon their pens in the fields and arenas of struggle in order to reveal the truth. Who revealed the truth in all difficult circumstances and in the fields of war."

Koçiğit accused the Turkish state of committing a war crime by targeting female journalists, adding: “It is an extrajudicial killing. When your drones go into the airspace of another country and target civilian areas, and as a result you kill female journalists of the free media and civilians there, this is an extrajudicial killing. In war, there is immunity for journalists. But unfortunately, the Turkish state has targeted civilian cars in Sulaymaniyah many times and killed people and free media journalists there, and thus committed a war crime.”
