Mothers of peace demand leader Ocalan's physical freedom 

The mothers of peace in Tabqa canton, North and East Syria, issued a statement on Wednesday in front of the Martyrs' Cemetery, with the participation of representatives from the Zenobia Women's Assembly Council and the Martyrs' Families Council.

The statement was read by Fawza Mohamed, the co-chair of the Martyrs' Families, War's Captives and Wounded Board in Tabqa canton. It began by stating that leader Abdullah Ocalan has been imprisoned in Imrali Prison for 27 years in solitary confinement under strict isolation imposed by the Turkish authorities.

The statement affirmed that despite his isolation and difficult circumstances, leader Abdullah Ocalan continues to disseminate his ideas and advocacy, which embody a broad vision of freedom and co-existence, and particularly highlight the role of women in liberating themselves from authoritarian mentalities and laying the intellectual foundation for a democratic nation based on pluralism and equality among all its components.

The statement explained that the people of North and East Syria have drawn their principles of organization and self-defense from the leader's thought, noting that his continued isolation constitutes a historical injustice. It stressed that resolving the issues of the Middle East hinges on achieving the leader's physical freedom.

The statement called for putting an end to wars, displacement, and destruction, and said, "We are the mothers of martyrs and the mothers of peace who offered our sons in defense of the land and its gains, and we appeal to the world countries to act for democratic peace."

In closing the statement, the mothers of peace in Tabqa canton reiterated their demand for human rights organizations to intervene immediately, secure the release of leader Abdullah Ocalan, end his isolation, and expedite the review of his case.
