Media office of Women's Council supports YRJ campaign

In a statement issued today, the media office declared its backing for the campaign, which the Women's Media Union initiated on August 12th under the slogan "No to Execution," aiming to deter the Iranian authorities from continuing their repressive policies against activists and journalists in Iran and E. Kurdistan.

The statement condemned the arbitrary decisions against journalists and activists who are performing their professional and humanitarian duties in reporting facts, assaults, and violations, particularly in light of the events in Iran following the outbreak of the (Jin, Jiyan, Azadî) "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising, which marked a significant victory for the women's revolution worldwide.

The statement denounced the death sentences issued against activists Bakhshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi, as well as the international silence accompanying these decisions.

The media office called on all human rights organizations, women's movements, and journalism-related organizations to support and join the campaign, condemning the violations that undermine freedom of the press and journalism in Syria, Iran, Turkey, and the Middle East at large.
