The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that massive fires are consuming vast areas in the countryside of Latakia and threatening villages amid the inability of firefighting teams to extinguish them. The teams face significant difficulties due to the intensification and constantly changing direction of the winds, alongside the rough terrain and the spread of landmines and war remnants, which pose serious obstacles to firefighting operations.

This comes approximately 24 hours after a huge fire broke out in the village of Zinu, where strong winds helped it spread rapidly. Another fire erupted in the village of Tartiyah near the town of Salma, threatening homes and farms, forcing residents to use primitive means in an attempt to control it, in the complete absence of firefighting teams affiliated with the interim government.

Fires continue to burn in the forests of the Hab Namra area in Wadi al-Nasara in the countryside of Homs, raising growing concerns as the flames reach residential areas, exacerbating the environmental and humanitarian disaster.
