Massive demonstration in Kobani demanding release of prisoners

Thousands of demonstrators, organized by relatives and families of prisoners, took to the streets of Kobani to demand the release of fighters held captive by the Syrian Interim Government since mid-January.

The demonstration began at Free Woman Square and proceeded to Peace Square, where participants chanted "We want our prisoners!" while carrying pictures of their captive sons.

Upon reaching Peace Square, the crowd observed a minute of silence, followed by a speech from Mohammed Bouzi, co-chair of the Kobani Martyrs' Families Council. Bouzi emphasized that the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Interim Government stipulates the immediate release of the prisoners.

"Our sons are still being held by the Interim Government, despite the agreement stipulating their immediate release," Bouzi stated. "We trust the administration, which is making continuous efforts to address the prisoners' issue."

The demonstration concluded with chants including "The martyrs are immortal" and "We want our prisoners!" These protests come amid escalating demands from families for adherence to the agreements reached and for ensuring the return of all prisoners to their families as soon as possible.
