Demonstration in Suwaida demands right of self-determination

On Saturday, hundreds of citizens participated in a large demonstration in al-Karama Square in the center of Suwaida, demanding the right to self-determination, the release of abductees, and the withdrawal of the Syrian Interim Government forces from several villages in Suwaida.

The participants raised banners affirming their commitment to their political rights, demanding the return of villages they say are under the control of the Syrian Interim Government forces, as well as the release of detainees held by the Interim Government.

The demonstration was organized by local groups, including the "Juls" Operations Room and religious and social organizations, with the participation of Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri's office, and was attended by a large crowd.

During the gathering, Judge Shadi Murshid delivered a speech in which he emphasized the rejection of any compromise regarding what he described as "the sacrifices of the people of Suwaida," stressing that no settlements that do not meet the protesters' demands will be accepted.

These demonstrations come amidst escalating tensions in Suwaida and continued popular demands for political and security solutions that guarantee stability and protect the rights of the residents
