Massive crowds in Tabqa call for Ocalan's physical freedom

On Wednesday, the streets of Tabqa witnessed a massive street march, during which banners affirming that the freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan is the foundation of peace and democracy were raised. Furthermore, Clans' sheikhs and dignitaries, religious figures, representatives of political parties and democratic civil society organizations, along with crowds of people from Tabqa, al-Shahba, and Afrin attended the march.

This march is considered a part of the campaign launched by the European Platform for Freedom and Peace on June 5, 2025 under the slogan "We Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan." The march includes academics, artists, politicians, journalists, human rights defenders, and activists from all over the world.

The participants raised pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and banners written on which, "Freedom of Leader Apo ensures peace and democracy". They set out from the temporary shelter for Afrin and al-Shahba displaced people in the Sports City towards the Martyrs' Families Council in the center of Tabqa, chanting slogans that demand putting an end to the isolation imposed on the leader, in addition to affirming the continuation of the struggle until he meets his people.

Upon their arrival at the Martyrs' Families Council in Tabqa, the participants held a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. This was followed by a speech delivered by the administrator of the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, Suad Oso, as she said, "The leader's historic call on February 27, 2025 embodied a sincere will to stop violence, break free from the shackles of conflict, and pave the way for a democratic society that embraces all."

Suad Oso emphasized that the leader Abdullah Ocalan has proven that peace is not an illusion or a slogan, but rather a possible reality when based on genuine thought and unwavering will.

Suad Oso made clear, "On behalf of Tabqa people, we affirm our deep belief in this historic call, and we consider it a real opportunity to end the wars that have exhausted the peoples of the region, and to establish a democratic society that guarantees rights and freedoms for all."

Suad Oso noted that the Turkish government's ongoing disregard for the initiative launched by the leader, through policies of isolation and procrastination, constitutes a deliberate obstruction of the peace process and poses a serious threat to the future of the region.

On behalf of the crowd, Suad Oso expressed a categorical rejection of any attempt to exclude the leader or marginalize his historic role. She said, "We declare our adherence to his ideology which represents the compass for a democratic solution. We call on the international community to assume its responsibility and work to end the isolation, release the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and pave the way for a Middle East in which peace, freedom, and dignity are prevailed."

The march concluded with chants saluting the leader Abdullah Ocalan's resistance and struggle which changed the course of free peoples around the world. They affirmed their commitment to following the leader's footsteps until the goals of freedom and peace are achieved.
