The violent blast was reported in the area between the Dummar Project and Qudsaya, near al-Dimas in the Damascus countryside.

Local sources told ANHA agency that the exact nature of the explosion remains unclear, with suggestions that it may have been caused either by military exercises or by the detonation of war remnants in an area that previously hosted sites of the former regime’s army.

The explosion comes amid escalating Israeli strikes on sites within Syria since December 8, 2024, the most recent of which occurred earlier this month, targeting an air defense battalion, the Air Defense College in the Al-Auras area southeast of Homs, and the Saqoubin military barracks near Latakia.
