March 8 celebrations praise women’s historical resistance against male mentality

The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Asiya Abdullah, saluted March 8, International Women's Day, and recalled the female fighters who sacrificed their lives to achieve women's freedom.

This came during the activities to celebrate March 8 (International Women’s Day), which was held at the Western Dam in Hasaka, and thousands of women from the city of Hasaka and its environs (Al-Shaddadi, Al-Hawl, Tal Barak, Tal Tamr, and Al-Darbasiyah) flocked there.

Asiya Abdullah said: “Thanks to these pioneering women Sakine Cansiz, Şilan, and Arin, who took the path of freedom and sacrificed the most precious thing to eliminate oppression, injustice..”

She pointed out that authoritarian capitalist regimes are trying, in various ways and means to eliminate the women's movement, but at the same time she emphasized that women have shown historical resistance in the face of these regimes.

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Women’s Council of the Future Syria Party, Ghalia Al-Kajwan, said: “We affirm that in the spirit of March 8 and the slogan of women’s free will, we end the policies of extermination, occupation and isolation.” We will defeat all policies of extermination due to philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

Al-Kajwan touched on the resistance shown by the women of NE Syria and the sacrifices they made to change the male mentality, and noted: “The women’s revolution is victorious thanks to the solidarity of all the components of the Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and other components.”

Al-Kajwan renewed her pledge to all women to escalate the struggle and resistance in order to liberate all women.

Reyhan Loqo congratulated all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and stressed that the policies of genocide are still continuing against women.

Loqo added: “With the thought of the leader Ocalan, we were able to build a free life, and our duty today towards the leader is to escalate our struggle and raise it to the highest levels in order to achieve his physical freedom.”

While, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in  al-Jazera Canton, Vivian Oso, confirmed that the union of women today from various components and here in the March 8 celebration square is an affirmation that we are “one hand in the face of all forms of isolation, extermination and occupation.”

Oso pointed out that "many countries that claim democracy and freedom and urge the protection of women's rights are still cooperating with the Turkish occupation in killing women of NE Syria."
