Mahmoud al-Muslet: Syrian dialogue is path to peace

The Syrian Democratic Council held an expanded meeting on Monday at the Center for Society Protection in Tel Kocher, Jazira canton, with the participation of residents from the city and surrounding towns and villages, as well as tribal leaders to discuss the latest political developments in the region.

The meeting was also attended by the Syrian Democratic Council's co-chair Mahmoud al-Muslet, the director of the Relations Office Hussein Azzam, and the advisory council member Abdul Qader al-Muwahed.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence in tribute for the martyrs. Then, SDC co-chair Mahmoud al-Muslet delivered a speech emphasizing the need to avoid hate speech and promote peace among the various components of Syrian society.

Al-Muslet noted that Syrian tribes have co-existed for thousands of years within a single social fabric, stressing the importance of rebuilding Syria and moving away from conflict.

He explained that the Democratic Autonomous Administration, based on pluralism, democracy, and decentralization, represents the ideal solution for the country's future, while simultaneously calling for the return of displaced persons from Afrin, Ras al-Ayn, and Tel Abyad to their homes under guaranteed conditions.

The co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Mahmoud al-Muslet, affirmed that the council advocates peace and stability, emphasizing that their motto at this stage is Syrian-Syrian dialogue.

Al-Muslet clarified that the Autonomous Administration project does not pose a threat to any party, including Turkey, stressing that Syria's future must be built on the basis of a new constitution and a social contract that guarantees the rights of all groups.

He pointed to the shared history of the people of North and East Syria; Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and Armenians, which strengthens the values of brotherhood and affection among these groups and forms a solid foundation for building a democratic and pluralistic Syria.

Mahmoud al-Muslet emphasized that their goal is to build a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria where Syrians can govern themselves and shape their own future.

For their part, the attendees, through their interventions, affirmed their commitment to the unity of Syrian society and co-existence among its components, pointed to their sacrifices of martyrs and wounded, demanded guarantees for their rights and rejected foreign intervention, affirming their support for the Syrian Democratic Forces and their democratic project, and their desire for a homeland that preserves their dignity and freedom without discrimination among the population.
