Macron Calls for 'UN-Mandate International Coalition' to stable Gaza

French President Emmanuel Macron denounced Israel's plan to intensify its Gaza military campaign today as foretelling an unprecedented disaster. He proposed the formation of an international coalition under a UN mandate to create stability in Gaza.

In statements released to the press in his office, Macron said: "The Israeli government's move to expand its operations in Gaza City and the tent encampments in Al-Mawasi and reconquer them bodes an unparalleled catastrophe and a step towards endless war."

Macron also urged that an international coalition mandated by the United Nations be formed to stabilize Gaza. He emphasized that "the Israeli government must put an end to this war immediately with a permanent ceasefire."

Macron believed that Israeli hostages and Gaza people would be the direct victims of this policy.

Israel's security cabinet approved a plan last week to capture Gaza City, an expansion of the scope of its military campaign in the devastated Strip. The plan has been the subject of intense criticism both abroad and at home.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not going to drop the proposal to capture control of Gaza despite international warnings and domestic criticism.

On Sunday, Netanyahu said, "The plan to capture Gaza City is the best option to bring an end to the war," continuing to say that "the new plans for assault on Gaza are aiming at two remaining Hamas strongholds."

He continued, "In light of Hamas's inability to disarm, Israel has no choice but to complete the mission and defeat it." He reaffirmed that "the tempo we've established for the military campaign is very fast."

Netanyahu emphasized that the plan "will entail transfer of civilians and establishment of safe corridors for humanitarian aid delivery, while allowing airdropping of aid.

" He went on, "We have established five principles for halting the war in Gaza: dismantling Hamas's weapons, release of the hostages, demilitarization of Gaza, total Israeli security control of Gaza, and establishment of a civil administration not reliant on either Hamas or the Palestinian Authority."
