Lawyers of leader Ocalan submit new meeting request
Lawyers representing leader Abdullah Ocalan and other detainees in Imrali have submitted a new request to the Turkish authorities to meet with their clients.
Today, lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office, Rizan Sariç, Adiye Ozturk, Mazlum Deng, and Faik Ozgur, filed a new request with the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa, Turkey, and the Imrali prison administration to meet with their clients, leader Abdullah Ocalan, Omar Khairi Kunar, Hamili Yildirim, and Veysi Aktaş, who are subjected to strict isolation by Turkey.
The lawyers from the Al-Asr Office submit two requests each week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa and the Imrali prison administration, yet they have received no response to their requests.
It is worth noting that the last meeting with the leader by his lawyers Rizan Sariç and Nuruz Oysal was on August 7, 2019.
On October 23, 2024, after a four-year interruption, the leader had a direct meeting with his nephew, Omar Ocalan. During this meeting, the leader stated in a message: "The isolation is still ongoing, and if the conditions are met, I have the theoretical and practical power to shift this process from a platform of conflict and violence to a legal and political ground."
Meanwhile, the system of torture and extermination continues in Imrali, preventing leader Abdullah Ocalan from his rights even as a detainee.
