Lawyers of Imrali detainees submit new visitation request

The lawyers of the Imrali prison detainees have submitted a new request, the first since the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced the results of its 12th Congress, which confirmed the party's dissolution and the end of its armed struggle, to the Turkish authorities for a visit.

Lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office, Raziye Ozturk, Cengiz Yurekli, Imran Amikçi, and Suzan Akiba, submitted the new request to the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor in Bursa and the Imrali Prison Administration to meet with their clients: Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the other three detainees, Omar Khayri Konar, Hamili Yildirim, and Veysi Aktaş.

The lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office submit two requests each week to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate in order to visit the detainees, but they have not received any response to their requests.

The PKK announced the results of its 12th Congress to the public, confirming the end of all activities carried out in the name of the party and the termination of the armed struggle. The party also announced the martyrdom of leaders Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Altun.
