Lawyers of Imrali detainees submit new request to meet them

Today, the lawyers from the Al-Asr Human Rights Office, Suzan Akiba, Ibrahim Bilmez, Umran Emekci, and Cengiz Yurekli, submitted a new request to the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor in the Turkish city of Bursa and the Directorate of Imrali Prison to meet with their clients: leader Abdullah Ocalan, Omar Khairy Kunar, Hamili Yildirim, and Veysi Aktaş, who have been subjected to severe isolation by Turkey for more than three years.

The lawyers from Al-Asr Office submit two requests each week to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bursa and the Directorate of Imrali Prison. Additionally, the detainees' families submit two requests weekly, totaling 16 requests per month, none of which have received a response, indicating rejection of the visits.

It is worth noting that the last meeting with leader Ocalan by his lawyers Rizan Sariça and Newroz Uysal took place on August 7, 2019. His last contact with the outside world was on March 25, 2021, during a five-minute phone call with his brother Muhammad Ocalan, which was then cut off.
