Lavrov calls for continued cooperation between Iran, International Atomic Energy Agency

The Russian Foreign Minister said that Moscow hopes for continued cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), despite escalating tensions following Israeli and US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. This came after the Iranian parliament passed a law suspending cooperation with the agency, a move that threatens the future of international oversight of Tehran's nuclear program.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said today that his country looks forward to continued cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Iranian parliament approved a bill on Wednesday to suspend cooperation with the IAEA after Israel and the United States bombed Iranian nuclear sites to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Iran denies any intention of developing a nuclear bomb. Russia, which has a strategic partnership with Iran, condemned the Israeli and US attacks and says Tehran has the right to a peaceful nuclear program.
