Kongra Star: Zalal Zagros, our member, went to Kirkuk to meet women’s organizations there

The text of the statement read:

“member of the Kongra Star administration, Faryal Suleiman Khaled (Zalal Zagros), went to Kirkuk with the aim of meeting women’s organizations, holding meetings, and finding common solutions to women’s issues.

While she was in Kirkuk, she was martyred in the afternoon of January 18, 2024.

The targeting of our comrade Faryal is not separate from the targeting strategy that targeted the Jineolojî member Nakhan Akarsal in Sulaymaniyah, and the first and second Paris massacres against Sakîne Cansiz (Sara), Fîdan Dogan (Rojbîn) and Leyla Şaylamez.

Throughout history, the patriarchal, authoritarian, fascist mentality has developed this strategy of attack against all women who resist for freedom, and it became clear previously that the one behind these attacks is Turkish intelligence.

The aim of these attacks is to target everyone who is resisting in Kurdistan against this dirty war, and targeting women resistance and freedom fighters is at the center of these dirty policies.

Our comrade Faryal was born in Amuda in 1975. She got to know the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in 1990, and joined the Freedom Movement in 1993. Since this date, Faryal has worked successfully in many fields, and during the 31 years of her struggle, she worked mainly from Rojava, Armenia, and Damascus. Her struggle was not limited to the struggle for women or the Kurdish people only, but rather she fought for all women and peoples, especially in Northern and Southern Kurdistan and NE, Syria. She also worked relentlessly in organizing women and the peoples of the region.

She played a major role in establishing the project of a democratic nation and Autonomous Administration among Arab, Syriac, Kurdish and Yazidi women, in accordance with the principle of justice, freedom and building a moral-political society. Her experience was not limited to organizing and cohesion among women in Rojava only. She had recently gone to Kirkuk to stand in solidarity with the women’s struggle. In Southern Kurdistan, women are killed every day as a result of the special war policies pursued by the occupying Turkish state in Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, and Hawler.

We say it again, the attack against our comrade Faryal is a political attack, and these massacres are the result of a policy of genocide, and since these attacks cannot take us a step back, they indicate the extent of their fear of organized women. We will escalate the pace of our struggle, and we will remain committed. With their goals and objectives, we will escalate the struggle of our revolution, the women’s revolution in Kurdistan, and spread it throughout the world as soon as possible.

So that these attacks do not remain unchecked, we call on all women, our patriotic and revolutionary people, the toilers, revolutionaries, and our friends to escalate their resistance in the face of these attacks.

We call on the Iraqi government to reveal the files of the killers, arrest them, and hold them accountable. If these attacks are not clarified, this means that the Iraqi government is also a partner in these attacks.”
