People of Deir ez-Zor protest against Turkish attacks

Hundreds of people from the countryside of the eastern Deir ez-Zor went out in a massive demonstration, during which they denounced the Turkish occupation attacks on NE Syria.

Hundreds of residents, tribal sheikhs and notables in the region, members and members of local and military councils, and the Zenobia Women’s Assembly Council participated in the demonstration.

The demonstration began in front of the Eastern Region Council in the town of Hajin, to Hajin General Hospital, carrying banners reading “No to the Turkish aggression against our regions” and “Down with the Turkish state.”

Upon arriving at the courtyard of Hajin General Hospital, the demonstrators observed a minute of silence, after which the co-chair of the Eastern Region Council, Salah Al-Salman, read a statement that said: “We condemn the Turkish occupation attacks, we denounce the international silence regarding the war crimes of the Turkish occupation state.

Also speaking on behalf of the Deir ez-Zor Council and the Future Syria Party, the co-chair of the council, Yahya Al-Ali, explained: “For years, the Turkish occupation state has been waging war against our regions, and is adopting aggressive behavior towards our people, disregarding all international laws and norms.”

Al-Ali stressed: “These barbaric attacks do not take into account any customs and laws, adopting a scorched earth policy of aggression and destroying the region to make it a historical hotbed of conflict that will last for decades, as was the case of the Ottoman Empire.”

On behalf of the Zenobia Women’s Assembly Council, the council’s administrator, Mona Al-Hamid, condemned the Turkish occupation’s attacks on NE Syria, and targeting of service and economic facilities there.
