Killing, intimidation continue in Girê Spi

Since Turkey and its mercenaries occupied Girê Spi canton and large parts of its countryside on October 9, 2019, they have committed various crimes against those remaining there, including murder, kidnapping, and intimidation, in addition to looting property, with the aim of restricting and displacing them from their homes.

During this month, ANHA agency documented several crimes committed by mercenaries against the residents of the occupied city of Girê Spi. On November 5, the young man Jassim Al-Younes, from the people of the occupied Suluk district, was shot dead at the Qitaf checkpoint, on the eastern side of the district, after preventing the mercenaries from assaulting women from the area while his relatives passing through the checkpoint.

On November 7, a group of mercenaries from the Levant Front raided Shaheen Ahmed’s wedding party, in the village of Ain al-Arous in the occupied city of Girê Spi, assaulted and beat him and a group of his relatives, and arrested 6 of them, and their fate remains unknown until now.

The detainees are “the groom and his father, the bride’s father, Hajj Youssef Al-Hassan, and 3 of the groom’s cousins, namely Rashad Ahmed, Mustafa Ahmed, and Saad Ahmed.”

According to the information we obtained from a source, this attack came in retaliation for the mercenary (Shihab al-Din Abu Yassin), the leader of the Levant Front mercenaries, for the bride’s father’s refusal to marry his daughter to whom he proposed a month before the wedding.

On November 15, the Turkish occupation mercenaries arrested 6 employees in occupied Girê Spi, who were appointed by the Turkish authorities through the former so-called local council, after dismissing them from their work, against the backdrop of their opposition to naming public facilities of the Turkish names (schools, parks, streets), accusing them of spreading a sedition. ANHA agency obtained the names of 3 of them, namely ( Anas al-Dakhil, Mohammed Ruwaished, and Mansour al-Dandal).

The so-called (local council) also dismissed 5 teachers for refusing to teach in the Turkish language and the curricula imposed by the Turkish occupation in schools.

The remaining residents of the occupied canton reject the Turkish occupation policy aimed at stripping away their identity, including dealing in the Turkish lira and teaching in the Turkish language, or naming public facilities with Turkish nationalist names and symbols.

While the Turkish occupation continues to implement its settlement plan in the occupied canton by exploiting the file of Syrian refugees in Turkey, by forcibly deporting them to occupied Girê Spi and settling them there.

Since the officials in the authorities of the Turkish occupation state, led by Erdogan, announced the start of the resettlement project at the beginning of April of last year, the number of Syrians who have been resettled has reached 29,432 Syrians from the cities of (Hama - Aleppo - Idlib - Deir ez-Zor - Damascus countryside... and others).
