A number of residents of the Kafr Sousa neighborhood in Damascus organized a sit-in today in front of the Ministry of Justice building of the Syrian transitional government, expressing their rejection of the repercussions of the re-implementation of Legislative Decree No. 66. They fear forced displacement and the loss of their housing rights.

Decree 66 dates back to 2012 and stipulates the reorganization of several neighborhoods in the capital, including Mezzeh, Kafr Sousa, and Darayya, through the "Marota City" and "Basilia City" projects.

Its recent activation sparked a wave of popular criticism, amid accusations of not providing fair housing alternatives for those affected.
