K Star commemorates journey of activist Sama on 27th anniversary of her martyrdom

The K Star in Lebanon issued a written statement on the 27th anniversary of the martyrdom of the activist Sama Yuja, praising her lifelong struggle.

It began its statement by saying, "On the 27th anniversary of the martyrdom of our comrade and activist Sama Yuja, we salute her pure soul and the souls of all the martyrs who paved the way for freedom and dignity with their blood and became beacons for us in our daily struggle to liberate humanity and society from oppression and tyranny."

The statement added that the martyr Sama Yuja was an example of free will and revolutionary courage, and that she embodied the highest values ​​of resistance when she set herself on fire inside the Çanakkale Prison on the eve of Newroz in 1998, in a bold revolutionary act that expressed her rejection of all forms of oppression and confirmed that Turkish fascism was incapable of breaking her will.

The statement noted that the martyr, despite her severe burns, remained steadfast and strong-willed, in an immortal message that continues to illuminate the paths of struggle and inspire generations of resistance.

The statement described the martyr Sama Yuja as a "symbol of the resistant woman" who stood up against the oppressive patriarchal system and chose to be at the forefront of the struggle for women's and societal freedom, alongside her comrades in the Kurdish Women's Freedom Movement.

In concluding the statement, the K Star - Lebanon affirmed that Sama Yuja's approach remains alive in the hearts of thousands of women who follow her path and continue their struggle against all forms of violence, discrimination, and occupation, in order to build a free, democratic society based on equality and justice.

It also renewed its pledge to continue carrying the banner of the struggle for women's freedom until the goals of the martyrs are achieved and societies are liberated from authoritarianism and tyranny.

Activist Sama Yuja, born in 1971 in the Ağrı region of Northern Kurdistan, set herself on fire inside Çanakkale Prison on March 21, 1998, in protest against the policies of repression and persecution. She was martyred on June 17 of the same year after Turkish authorities denied her medical treatment
