Journalist Suleyman arrested by KDP for 12th day in a row

KDP continue to kidnap the journalist and editor of Roj News Agency, Suleyman Muhammad Ahmed, no information being received about him, despite local and international media pressure.

The journalist was kidnapped by KDP forces, when he entered the Faysh Khabur crossing into southern Kurdistan, coming from visiting his family in Aleppo.

The journalist went to the city of Aleppo on October 1, after the death of his father, Muhammad Ahmed, at the age of 66 years.

The Asayish forces affiliated with KDP in Dohuk told lies through a statement full of contradictions in which they admitted to kidnapping Suleiman, and the forces threatened to punish journalist Suleyman by imprisoning him.

Lawyers in Hewler confirm that the kidnapping of journalist Suleyman and his detention by the Hewler authorities without reason, and without a court decision, is illegal and is considered a violation of rights and freedom of thought and opinion in the Kurdistan region.

Suleyman Ahmed has been working as an editor in the Arabic section at Roj News Agency for nearly 5 years.

Roj News called on KDP authorities to reveal Suleyman’s fate and release him immediately. It also rejected and strongly condemned the false accusations leveled by the “Asayish” in Dohuk, stressing that KDP authorities are responsible for Suleyman’s safety.
