Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi discussed with his US counterpart, Marco Rubio, in Washington, DC, ongoing efforts to consolidate a ceasefire in southern Syria, particularly in Sweida, as well as regional developments and bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two ministers emphasized the importance of progress in implementing the tripartite agreement reached last Saturday during Jordanian-US-Syrian talks hosted by the Kingdom. The agreement aims to de-escalate the situation in southern Syria, protect civilians, and deliver humanitarian aid.

Safadi stressed the need to consolidate the ceasefire in Sweida and called for support for the reconstruction process based on principles that preserve Syria's unity and the safety and rights of all its citizens. He also commended the United States' continued support for Jordan and praised the strategic partnership between Amman and Washington.

For his part, Rubio emphasized the importance of Jordan's role in promoting regional stability and the need to adopt dialogue as a path to resolving the crisis in southern Syria, de-escalating the situation in the West Bank, and reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement in Gaza
