New batch of Bedouin families leaves Sweida

On Wednesday evening, the southern countryside of Sweida witnessed the departure of a new batch of Bedouin families, approximately 500 people, from the town of Kafr towards the city of Daraa. This comes two days after approximately 1,500 people left the Ash'aer neighborhood in the city of Shahba.

This move comes after the withdrawal of forces affiliated with the transitional government from Sweida in mid-July, following a violent attack that left massacres against the population.

According to media sources, the agreement was reached under international auspices and stipulates the temporary exit of Bedouin families from the city of Sweida, to which they were displaced at the beginning of the escalation.

The agreement also includes additional provisions that will be gradually implemented, including the release of kidnapped Sweida residents and ensuring the return of tens of thousands of residents to their villages in the northern and western countryside of Sweida, following successive waves of displacement due to the military escalation that has been witnessed in Sweida and its countryside since July 13.
