Israeli shelling, demolitions in southern Lebanon after ceasefire agreement

The Israeli Army carried out artillery shelling and machine-gun fire on the Kounine town in southern Lebanon, while also conducting demolition and explosive operations targeting homes in the Khiam town. These operations followed the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

On the first day of the ceasefire, which came into effect on Thursday–Friday night, demolition and destruction operations were reported in southern Lebanon.

Israeli forces shelled Kounine, in Bint Jbeil district, using artillery and machine guns. They also carried out large-scale demolition of houses in the southern town of Khiam.

According to the National News Agency, Israeli forces also fired an artillery shell and machine-gun bursts toward an ambulance team affiliated with the Islamic Health Authority in Kounine, resulting in reported injuries.

The agency further reported that Israeli forces conducted a major rigging and demolition operation in the town of Khiam.

These developments come just hours after the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect, which was announced by the U.S. President Donald Trump and is set to last for 10 days.
