The official, who requested anonymity, stated that Israel would permit “limited entry” of the Syrian transitional government's forces into Sweida for 48 hours.

Speaking to reporters, the official said, “In light of the continued instability in southwestern Syria, Israel has agreed to allow limited entry of internal security forces (Syrian) into Sweida Governorate for the next 48 hours,” according to Reuters.

The city of Sweida and its countryside in southern Syria have witnessed serious escalation following attacks launched by groups affiliated with the transitional government in Syria since July 13. The same forces later became directly involved in the assault.

Violations and crimes were reportedly committed against the Druze residents of the city. Despite incitement and military buildup against Sweida, the operations ended yesterday morning without the transitional government achieving its objectives. The forces withdrew from neighborhoods in the city and villages they had previously taken control of.

The city is facing severe difficulties, including communication and internet outages, continued power cuts for the fifth consecutive day, and the shutdown of most bakeries due to a lack of flour.
