ISIS poses great threat to Syria and world

ISIS activity did not stop through its sleeper cells; Since the SDF announced; Geographically eliminating ISIS in Al-Baghouz, eastern Syria, spring 2019.

One of the largest attacks launched by ISIS since 2019 was the attack it launched on Al-Sinaa prison in Hasaka on January 20, 2022, the day that marked the fourth anniversary of the Turkish attack on Afrin Canton in 2018.

Today, on the second anniversary of the attack on Al-Sinaa Prison, we review for you the attacks launched by ISIS during the past year in various areas of Syria, in addition to the operations carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Internal Security Forces against ISIS

According to numbers revealed by the Syrian Observatory, 700 civilians and soldiers lost their lives in Syria as a result of 336 attacks launched by ISIS during the year 2023, including 411 civilians and soldiers in Damascus government areas.

Perhaps the most violent attack by mercenaries was the attack launched in November last year on a bus of Damascus government forces, which led to the death of 34 members in the Syrian desert near the city of Palmyra, as the Syrian desert became an arena of attrition for Damascus forces and Iranian militias.

ISIS attacks were not limited to the desert only, as the mercenaries launched 2 attacks in the Sayda Zeinab and Barzeh areas in the capital, Damascus, during May and July of last year.

The Observatory also indicated that 165 attacks were launched by ISIS on various areas of NE Syria, leading to the martyrdom of 120 civilians and fighters in the ranks of the SDF.

On the other hand, the Syrian Democratic Forces carried out 73 operations against the remnants of ISIS in the regions of NE Syria during the year 2023, including operations “Sayqat al-Jazera, Revenge for the Martyrs of Raqqa, and the campaign to strengthen security in Deir ez-Zor.”

These operations resulted in the elimination of 12 mercenaries, including 4 princes, and the arrest of 352 mercenaries in addition to 6 princes. These cells are involved in providing the cells with intelligence information, weapons and military equipment, in addition to financing terrorist cells, and transporting and smuggling their members and their families from Al-Hol camp and prisons. As well as smuggling and moving cells between the Syrian desert region and the areas occupied by the Turkish occupation, and planning to carry out terrorist operations against civilians and military and security forces, and destabilizing the security and stability of the regions of NE Syria.

In turn, the Internal Security Forces in NE Syria were able during the past year to dismantle 43 cells belonging to ISIS mercenaries.
