ISIS mercenary cells’ attack on checkpoint in Raqqa Canton 

The General Command of the Internal Security Forces in NE Syria issued a statement to public opinion, in which it explained the martyrdom of two of its members and the injury of two others in an attack by ISIS mercenary cells on a checkpoint in the Al-Kasrat area, south of Raqqa.

The statement stated:

“In a cowardly terrorist act, four members of ISIS terrorist cells riding motorcycles, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, targeted the university checkpoint in the Al-Kasrat area, south of the city of Raqqa.

The attack resulted in the martyrdom of two members of our forces, and the wounding of two others, in addition to the injury of a civilian who was passing near the checkpoint.

We in the Internal Security Forces affirm that such treacherous attacks will not deter us from performing our duty to fight terrorism and protect our people. We are working hard to track down and prosecute the perpetrators of this terrorist attack and bring them to justice.

Mercy to our martyrs, and a speedy recovery to the injured.

We call on the people of our city to cooperate with the security forces to confront any attempt aimed at destabilizing the region.”
