ISIS leader arrested in Deir ez-Zor countryside

The Media Center of SDF issued a statement today, revealing that its forces had captured a leader of ISIS mercenaries. The statement read:

On Friday, our SDF’s military operations teams (TOL), with support from the International Coalition, conducted a precise and targeted security operation in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, targeting a high-ranking leader of the terrorist organization ISIS named Hamoud Abdullah al-Khatib, aka Abu Zakaria.

The terrorist, Abdullah, served as the so-called “emir” of an ISIS cell operating in the economic sector. He extorted money from civilians at gunpoint under the pretense of collecting “zakat,” and threatening those who refused with death.

Based on accurate intelligence and close surveillance, our forces tracked the movements of the terrorist, identified his location, and successfully encircled and captured him, and sized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including:

-38 RPG rounds

-40 RPG warheads

-1 LAW anti-tank weapon

-2 hand grenades

-13 ammo can of AKC

-3 ammo can of DShK

-1 ammo can of BKC

-17 ammo box of 9mm pistol

-18 magazines of AK-47 rifle

-9 magazines of AKC rifle

-26 ammo boxes of AKC

-7 rounds of 8mm pistol

-2,450 rounds of BKC

-260 AK-47 rounds

-1 rifle scope

-3 BKC machine guns

-1 Russian sniper rifle

-1 AKC rifle

-2 AK-47 rifles

-2 8mm pistols

-4 magazines of 8mm pistols

-2 9mm pistols

-5 magazines of 9mm pistols

Our forces reaffirm their commitment to dismantling ISIS cells, targeting its infrastructure and support networks, cutting off its material and ideological resources, and safeguarding the security and stability of the region under all circumstances.
