ISIS cells attack Damascus forces in Homs countryside

ISIS mercenary cells attacked military positions of Damascus government forces in the desert of Al-Sukhna, Homs countryside, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to others.

The ISIS mercenary cells, originating from the depths of the Syrian desert, launched a surprise attack using light and medium weapons, targeting military positions of Damascus government forces and their allied forces in the Al-Sukhna desert in Homs countryside.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the attack resulted in the death of one soldier and the injury of others. Following the attack, airstrikes were carried out by Russian and Damascus government warplanes, but no ISIS mercenaries were killed in these strikes.

The death toll during military attacks in the Syrian desert, according to the Observatory's documentation, reached 586 people since the beginning of 2024, including:

58 civilians, including two children and a woman, killed in ISIS attacks in the desert; 478 from Damascus government forces and their allied groups; and 50 ISIS mercenaries.

Most of these attacks occurred in the Deir ez-Zor desert with 70 attacks, and in the Homs desert with 92 attacks.
