ISF thwart ISIS attack in Jazera Canton

Today, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria issued a written statement regarding the attack by an ISIS mercenary cell on one of their checkpoints in Jazera Canton. The statement read as follows:

"At exactly 1:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, the Gharb checkpoint, located on the Forty-Seven Road connecting the city of Hasaka and the city of Al-Shaddadi, was subjected to a treacherous terrorist attack carried out by a cell affiliated with the ISIS terrorist organization.

The terrorist group, consisting of five armed members, launched their attack using motorcycles, opening fire on our forces stationed at the checkpoint. Our forces immediately responded decisively to the source of the gunfire, resulting in the injury and capture of one of the terrorist cell members, while the rest of the group fled the scene.

The General Command of our forces reaffirms its commitment to confronting all terrorist attempts that aim to undermine the security and stability of our regions. We emphasize that these cowardly acts will not deter our forces from continuing their duty to protect the people.

We urge all citizens to cooperate with our forces and report any suspicious activities, as public solidarity is the foundation for maintaining security and stability in our regions."
